This entry is deliberately conservative: outsiders should not assume every Baluch healing practice is identical, nor claim clinical results or stage a sacred rite without consent.
Guāti is not simply another word for Zār. The local ceremonial context and the participants’ privacy matter. Guāti is discussed in accounts of Baluch ritual specialists and healing beliefs. Its meaning depends on Baluch language, musical instruments, religious and family contexts, and the people who conduct the ceremony. The history of Baluch communities extends beyond a modern provincial border; this should broaden research without collapsing distinct Iranian and neighbouring traditions. The purpose is not necessarily public entertainment, and involuntary movement should never be staged as a caricature of an entire people. Claims of cure are not medical evidence. For DANZO, ethical documentation means speaking with knowledgeable practitioners, gaining explicit consent and avoiding unverified substitute performances.
