A celebrated northern Bulgarian dance associated with the music of composer Diko Iliev.
Its recognizable brass-band melody and accessible line formation make Dunavsko Horo a familiar sound at public festivities. It belongs to modern Bulgarian musical history as well as social dancing. The tune is associated with composer and brass-band leader Diko Iliev (1898–1984). It remains a familiar ceremonial and celebration piece, especially connected with northern Bulgarian identity. The group joins hands and advances in a repeating step pattern to an even two-beat pulse. The video lesson separates the arm hold from the traveling steps so learners can recognize the phrase.
